Yarrow or Brendas improve cold and anti-inflammatory
Yarrow medicinal plant (known as Brandas or Brenjas in some regions of Iran) has various therapeutic applications, including its effectiveness in treating colds. The flowering tops of the yarrow plant possess properties such as being astringent, diaphoretic, and antispasmodic, making it effective in cold treatment.
This plant is also traditionally used in the treatment of colic, hysteria, epilepsy, rheumatism, and for preventing premature skin aging.
Yarrow inhibits the respiratory activity of human neutrophils, which explains its anti-inflammatory properties. Its anti-inflammatory effect is comparable to that of the drug indomethacin. Moreover, yarrow prevents ulcers induced by indomethacin and ethanol in rats and promotes the healing of ulcers caused by acetic acid in rats.
